Being Positive on a Tough Day

Sometimes I have a difficult time remaining positive and cheerful. Many would say I have just cause for this since losing my thirteen year old son as I did. True. I do grieve and feel constant sorrow.
However, I do have other children who need a happy momma.
Thus I try.
Yesterday we dealt with a crowd of nearly 1 million folks attempting to watch the parade celebrating the win of the World Series by the KC Royals. It was a LONG, long, long day. Things didn't go as planned. We stood in line for 2.5 hours to catch a shuttle that ended up not taking us very far. We didn't see the parade. We saw the rally, which was fine. We walked, walked, and walked some more. i'd guess we walked a total of 7 miles yesterday.
As tired and disappointed as I was, I managed to remain pretty cheerful and positive throughout the long day. I had a moment or two where I got grumpy, but quickly pulled it back in with a deep breath.
The kids needed a positive and cheerful momma yesterday.
I think I did ok.

It can be so hard to be positive even when its the best of your intentions. I think you did really well all said and done.
You have to have times to grieve and cry too. Most often I let it all go when I am on my own. I am grieving for my Niece very young its almost a year now and really no one understands much how I feel as its not part of their Family.
Yes you did really well. I think its being a sort of start, stop and go week. Take care now.

I do wish there were other people in the world or even people around me that would read your discussion. Its great that you keep up with having such a positive attitude, i know for me its hard to not always be happy and be grumpy. I feel this way most at work because the people i work for aren't the nicest people to be around at times. In the morning is the worst when the guys are coming in to get there paperwork for the day and then my boss not knowing what is going on. It seems to be a little chaotic in the mornings here and she can be really mean with an attitude and its crazy. I always just keep going and doing what i have to do till its my time to leave for the day and just move on from here and go home to a happy place.

Good for you. You made it through a hectic day. Quiet times, you can give your 13 year old some time. Either way, he's with you spiritually.

I think you are doing very well in putting your remaining children's needs at the forefront of your mind. I bet you are a great mum
