Diary – Thursday 5th November 2015

Photo taken by me – my cat Smudge.

After such a long time without a washing machine, (it broke and there were problems installing the replacement) I finally got through my laundry pile, which feels great. It is bonfire night here, the UK commemoration of a failed attempt by Guy Fawkes to blow up the government in 1605. Given that modern government makes many wish he had succeeded the use of fireworks to celebrate an assassin / terrorist is rather odd. Talking of odd, my Mum kept interrupting my peace & quiet to tell me all sorts of trivial stuff. Our timid old cat stayed in because of the loud fireworks going off until way into the early hours of the morning. She started licking my mum’s yoghurt and finished it off. My mum told me this twice and then interrupted me again to wave the empty yoghurt pot at me as needing to prove the story. I find such pointless distractions annoying at the best of times. oh she is well fed - though the photo is a few years old, rather than right after the great yoghurt heist of 2015 incident

@Jessicalynnt pretty much so yes she can be quite crafty and then adopts an 'it wasn't me' expression

The story of your mother repeating her story reminds me of what I do more often every day. As we get older, we sometimes forget if we have told the story or not. Sometimes, in the middle of the tale, we remember that we told it (maybe by watching our listener face). It is annoying as probably it will be annoying for the younger ones when you start doing that. I do wonder though if younger people are aware that we become very stressed and terrified when we find out that we are repeating ourselves. And that makes it worse for us.

@marguicha I'm sure that is the case - it is weird how word for word the repeat is to the earlier telling of the story too

I would have been upset too if the cat has eaten my yogurt as I love yogurt. But then again, I probably wouldn't have gone off and left it unattended either. I hope you were finally able to have a peaceful night.

Sometimes we do have to get creative to get those household tasks done. Glad the wash is all finished for a few days.

I hope you didn't hang your washing out on the line with all the bonfires. . . oh wait - it was raining!

No, I used the radiators and clothes maiden inside - weather wise - never even thought about the smoke effect

Cats are entitled. Just ask. They'll tell you.
