I think cruising offers real vacation because the cell phones do not ring

There are a couple of sea days during my recent cruise trips. We cannot get a signal on our cellphones. That is why fellow passengers can enjoy a great time together. When you do not text or talk on cell phones, you have to talk with people around you. There are lots of laughter in the Main Dining room, the pool deck, the promenade and all parts of the ship. This is the real vacation since everyone literally gets away from the stressful world and mingles with others in the middle of the ocean.

Why not switch it off once a week to enjoy your family.. we have gadgetless hours at home.

Because i need the cellphone to check time. I do not use a watch so my cell phone serves as a watch, and an alarm clock.

Beats me why you'd ever turn the thing on if you're on vacation!

Because my cell phone is my watch as well as my alarm in the morning. Even though there is no signal, the other functions still work. I need to wake up early to get on shore excursion, and I need to check the time to catch the shows.

I think having no cellphone during vacation can really be advantageous in some ways.

Actually it is not. You still need to check the time, and you need to take photo, so a smartphone serves the purpose.

That is one thing I like about cruising, you have to disconnect and Internet is so expensive that I rearely do more than a couple minutes.

I do not even want to spend money on internet. No news for me too. I rather watch the sea than to watch news about disaster. It is a complete escape from real life.

No, no wifi at all, so laptop does not work too. You can still use the cell phone and tablet to take photos, but nobody can reach you because you are not contactable.

The way to not be bothered with a cell phone is to not own one or turn it off!

Not possible when you do not have a watch, and you rely on the cellphone to tell the time. Many people use the smartphone as a camera too. If you switch it off, you cannot set alarm, take photo, and check the time.

I have never been on a cruise before. Someday we'd like to take our daughter on a Disney Cruise!
