Donuts and the hole on the center.. Hi hi

The question I asked myself once was: "Why do donuts/doughnuts have a hole in the center?" So I brainstormed some ideas to why they have holes in the middle. Some of the most interesting things I made up is that donuts have holes in the middle because the extra dough can be made into munchkins and people can hold the donuts much better, or just to save dough so that they can make more donuts thereby increasing profit. I don't actually know the real reason why and I am too lazy to check on the internet as to the history of donuts so my imagination is my goto explorer on these kinds of matters and it makes me laugh a little bit. How about you? Why do you think donuts have holes in the middle? (most donuts that children love) Kudos~

Two good reasons. They cook more evenly and more quickly if there's a hole and they were originally sold stacked on a narrow pole - a bit like quoits.

I have a different idea or guess - - The baker, who introduced the first donuts, must be a guy and was either an avid golfer or skirt-chaser! Or both!

Ha ha, that's a nice imagination of the history of donuts. The munchkins become the gold ball and the donut is the hole. It just makes perfect sense! xD

I think that one where the middle taken out can be done into munchkins .

I know right? I thought that was it but I was so wrong. It was actually to balance and even out the dough that is being cooked.

Ha ha, that was the initial idea that came to my mind when I thought about doughnuts having holes in the middle.

I have never thought about that, or if I did I have forgotten! Maybe it has something to do with the cooking? Maybe it cooked better with the hole, Maybe without the hole the center wasn't cooked thoroughly?

Yeah, I kind of like searched the real intention of the hole in the middle of the donut. It kind of is like what you said. He he, but now we have whole-made doughnuts with chocolate or bavarian inside which is a great innovation so that the typical donut hole in the middle is not wasted. Thanks for your response!
