The holiday ad season is already in full swing

Years ago we used to have something called "Christmas," which was the major commercial opportunity of the year. The norm at that time was that Christmas commercials would start appearing on television just after Thanksgiving. Then, they were non-stop through December 25.
But now we've gone far beyond such quaint old practices. First, we've jettisoned the old-fashioned "Christmas" idea - having to start after Thanksgiving and stop after Christmas Day was just too limited a time frame for businesses to make the amount of money they were looking for.
So, we've replaced "Christmas" with "The Holidays." And now, there are no limits on commercialization! I started seeing "holidays" ads on TV as far back as mid-summer. And they'll certainly keep going into January.
Isn't progress great?

Christmas or Holidays are the peak season for business and they get a little bit more every time this month sets in.

I love "the holidays" but it's getting out of hand even for me.
