Professionalism, a criteria for job employment rather than competency?

The basis for job enrolment this days are both of "outrageous" years of experience and professional qualification. It is saddening to note that being awarded a professional qualification is not a yardstick for performance.Personally, I think competency in achieving result should be the password to job appointment.Little wonder, our so called employer, are mostly bent on requesting for many years of expereince when after spending many years at home before getting admission to study the course of your choice.Sure thing is that after securing such admissions, students unrest would take its toll on the academic calendar, therefore extends the course year to another 4 to 5 years. Things must be done to alert our employer of labour that there are many factors that determine the qualification. Please check this out as it must not go unresolve. Thanks, David Lagos, Nigeria
