It's going to be a long, dry summer

Mother nature seems to have it in for us in South Africa this summer.
It's supposed to be the rainy season where I live, but we've hardly had a drop of rain since spring arrived and according to the forecasters we're not likely to get too much until March. Add to that the fact that we're in the middle of the worst heatwave I've ever experienced.
We've just had water restrictions imposed on us, and in some areas not too far from where I live people haven't had running water for a few days now. I'm not sure how they can survive that way.
Worse still, in a nearby informal settlement about a hundred families had their shacks destroyed by fire today and have lost everything they own.
This summer's going to be hard but compared to what some people are experiencing I guess I should be counting my blessings.

Yes, it has been terribly dry, we are all so worried, my Mom has been asking all her overseas friends to pray for rain with us here. And last night I heard there were two Hospitals with no water. I hope that somehow, we soon get good and proper rain.

That is hard on everyone having a water shortage. I hope you will get some rain soon so lives can go back to normal. It's winter season here and i'm not liking it i prefer summer.

@Blondie2222 I normally prefer summer, but this isn't normal summer weather. I don't ever remember it being this hot here. Even if we get some rain, I doubt it will be enough for life to return to normal soon. It's bad enough for me in the city, but some of the farmers must be in serious trouble already.

Wow, @Tampa_girl7 . That's awful. I can't even imagine what it's like to go without water for too weeks and seriously hope I don't have to find out. But I guess anything is better than what happened to those people today

@TheHorse My cousin lives near the sea and her rainy season is in winter too. I prefer summer rain because I hate the cold and can't imagine being cold and wet, but right now I'd rather be cold and wet than have to worry about the possibility of having no water.
