The other day my husband fell off the trailer of his truck and was having extreme pain around his ribcage and some bruising. Yesterday he was finally able to make it to the emergency room to get x-rays. He had broken the #6 rib and had a sprained wrist. I was reading on the internet about how a broken rib can sometimes puncture other organs such as the lung, heart, kidneys, liver and pancreas. Fortunately none of that happened to him. He will just have to wait for the rib to heal 4 to 6 weeks.There really is nothing they can do except try to make him comfortable with pain relievers.

It's good that it wasn't a worse outcome. Hoping for a quick recovery.

Thank you. Today I found out it was a closed fracture, as compared to an open fracture, which can do damae to other internal organs...that is a good thing.
