Hey! Look at ME!

I know a girl {or two, but this particular one is in England} on Facebook who is an attention-seeking scallywag. Her entire life, and the lives of others, is played out for all her friends to see. She's the "Oh, woe is me, but I shan't give you any more information because I want you to ASK me and HUG me and offer to PM me!" type of girl, despite being less of a girl and more of a fully-grown mother in her thirties.
She also tends to butt her nose into world affairs.
Last night was an example. How did I find out about the ISIS attacks in Paris? Go on, have a guess! Even then she didn't give any information. She just put, "Prayers for everyone in Paris this evening," which again suggests that you need to ASK her and HUG her and offer to PM her!
I didn't. I just opted for taking myself over to the BBC News website and discovered the atrocities for myself.
The world is a terribly horrid place. People are terribly horrid. I am terribly horrid for criticising her for showing sympathy. The irony is not lost on me, truly. I won't reflect on these events on Fb. I go about my daily life with little thought for all the terrible atrocities that occur in the world, every second of every minute of every day. I think we all do. It's only when these atrocities occur closer to home, in an environment we can understand, that we focus a little more on it.
I think that makes us terribly horrid. But as a survival technique it's pretty good. We sweep it under the carpet. It becomes hazy in our memories, something that happened, but not to us so we don't have to worry about it. We can go about our daily lives feeling safe, instead of cooped up at home, hiding in a survivalist's bunker with a year's supply of tins of beans.
Yum.
Paris, you're a beautiful city. I love you.

Compassion lies within us in our heart. True compassion is silent. Silence is sometimes better than words

I think we all have to put the atrocities and the trouble in the world out of our minds when we can. We know they are there but we live above them, around them, over on the other side of those thoughts because we have to in order to function normally. It's normal. We have to be normal to live. And now and again the scary thoughts will creep in and we try to deal with them as best we can.

I think most of us wish Paris France didn't have this occur to them they are sending a message to us because of something we did myself I think theses things can happen to anybody anywhere.
