So this is what appears on their home page today: Greetings, After being up and running for almost 3 years now we regrettably need to inform you that we will be shutting Bubblews.com down. The climate for display advertising has drastically changed and made it impossible for us to sustain the business model and operations. We want to thank everyone that was a part of this journey. We wish you all the very best. –Bubblews Hope everyone has backed up their work?

I always back up my work and I'm glad I did :) I wish they would inform their users before they shut down though. That's the least they could do after scamming them of their money.

All important files (especially photos which may never be replaceable) on a computer or stuff published online should be backed up, and a secondary backup, perhaps in the cloud, is an even better idea. It's surprising how many people don't do this, and think their computer or other device is invulnerable.

It seems like I was one of the lucky ones. I learnt not to trust Bubblews a long time ago, so I started backing up everything I wrote there. I now do that on the other sites I use as well.

Many were still hoping against hope from the kind the response they got from the site asking that they wait. But one should not be unduly upset as writers always have thoughts flowing to create brand new posts.

I had most of it saved on a computer that has since been deemed unusable.

Yes, I've heard...well seen. At least they posted or sent SOME reason for their closure. I've heard that there are other sites that leave people completely in the dark as they seem to be spiraling down the drain of oblivion! Could you imagine what that must feel like? Sort of like a crushed "bug", no? "
