Avoiding Crowded Areas

After the attacks in Paris this past weekend, even though it is already my policy to not go to events where large crowds are expected, the attack has made me more determined not to be in crowed places and if I have to be in a crowd to be more observant of my surroundings and to get away if anything though it may be innocent looks strange. It happened In Paris and no country is immune from these attacks and they can happened no matter how much security there is so being observant of your surroundings is going to be your key in the event these terriorists decide where you are at and if you see something strange such as a unattended backpack or someone wearing something like a strange looking vest or belt get away and report it to authorities as it is better to be safe than sorry. Anything else that we should be observant of?

It would be fruitless to merely look for people that look middle eastern for clues as they have recruited so many weak minded people willing to be their Martyrs. I spent three years in and around the Persian Gulf area before and during Desert Storm and have looked many of them in the eye during road blocks etc. I assure you that to knowingly blow oneself up or face probable extermination for the acts you are about to commit takes a more than considerable amount of focus and determination. Remember the words "Fiercely determined" as you scan the faces of the crowd. that determined look should be impossible to miss except that we as a people have been conditioned to avoid eye contact with strangers. THAT, is something that has to be overcome as the avoidance is just another weapon in their arsenal.

I tend to look people in the eyes although I don't know if I could spot one of these people.

These terrorists need to be stopped in their attacks so that they can never be successful. It's going to be harder to convince people to blow themselves up if they can't get any glory from it. It's too bad no one was carrying a weapon and could shoot the terrorists before they killed all those people. We can stay home right now, but eventually, it will come to our doors.

Yes, I think as you do that eventually they will try something in our country again.

I will be doing what I have always been doing. There is no point in being so guarded. Anything can happen when one least expects it and not necessarily from terrorists.

vigilance is good but don't let the worries spoil potential days and nights out for you

You can stay at home for awhile but not forever, at some point in time you have to go out and about.

@Elizaby Large crowds are most places you go depending on the time of day.
