Exceptional class takes field trips once a month

My son being classic autistic and a little over zealous at school will run if someone does not hold on to him. He has gotten away from the teachers and assistants at school and ran through the parking lot. After hearing that they cannot control my son at school and they are not able to use a harness and leash, there is no way I am going to let him go on a field trip with the school. Even if I go I am not allowed to use a harness on him. I cannot go anyway with another child at home. Needless to say my child misses a lot of school due to field trips. I do not think they should count that as a day for being at school or not when it comes to absences. What are your thoughts?
