Flies Won't Be Gone

Since the weather's getting cooler in this late fall season, I'm still dealing with the same housefly situation I've mentioned in last month's post. This time, I'm finding them in the living room-dining room area, my mini home office niche, my bedroom and bathroom. Though my house is clean, and there's no cracks through the window screen or screen doors, they've made it easy for me to swat them on the walls. *sigh*
Why are they here? How do you get rid of them for good? And how to remove the bug splatter on the walls? I might have to go check out that Youtube video you've mentioned last month, real soon.

Maybe it was a good year for flies, bad year for us because we have to put up with them. Was it warm there, warmer then normal. I know in Chico, California it was hot, 113f at some point and 100plus for the whole of June. I came back mid Sept so I can't say if they still had flies there, but I do know it was still rather warm with the temperature in the low to mid's.

@KristenH That's good to hear that they have now gone at long last.

@kevin1877uk It is. No more bugs, flies or ants for me until next spring maybe. Darn pests!

It's strange that there's still present in your house. We had them up until a few weeks ago as well, even when the weather started getting colder. It baffled both my husband and I. It seemed so strange that they would still be around when it was so cool. I hope they leave to your house soon.

I wonder if they are getting in somewhere, or if they got in and then breed more. I know its gross, but those fly strips work wonders, to clean a bunch out, then you can pitch the gross thing

@KristenH I hate ants. Their bites now scar on me, and fire ants give me hives

@Jessicalynnt Yikes! I haven't seen them on the kitchen floor since September. Thanks God! Time to get some Raid action as well.

You can start some tidying up and ensure fruit peels like that from a banana is thrown into covered garbage receptacles. Next would be the food leftovers which need to be covered or kept in the fridge.
You may want to look for the source of where these flies are coming from and to some extent call pest control to help you.

@KristenH I suppose you can use any cleaners really if you don't mind the smell of the murphy's oil then I guess you could use it. I use plain soap and water because we use scented candles and I don't want the two scents to clash and then it smell bad lol.

Thanks for the tip on soap and water. Would Murphy's oil work as well? I'll see about the glue paper. Not too humid. I have the temp at 72 when it's on, since it's cold outside. I haven't seen too many around here, except for two now.

I hope you were able to get rid of them. There are sticky old fashioned things that you hang from the ceiling to catch the flies. We rarely see a fly and by now never because it s too cold for them outdoors.
