Do You Suffer From Dry Skin In the Winter?

Cold weather brings on the DRY HEAT in the house that causes dry skin. I am already suffering from that myself. I have decided to drink lots more water than I usually drink. I remember too that I need to add some moisture to the air in the house, by boiling some water every day and let the steam roll up into the house. Dryness causes dry nasal passages and even your lungs can be affected. So, drink lots of water and/or other liquids. Drinking water is BETTER than using moisturizing lotions when it comes to dry skin. I'm making a habit of drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning, another glass at breakfast, lunch and dinner and before I go to bed. I'm trying to keep a glass of water sitting on the kitchen counter and every time I go in there I drink the water. I'm glad I have natural spring water delivered to my house every two weeks. It's good tasting water.

I know the heat in the house bothers my sinus. Not my skin. I do drink water and enough liquids. But the cold weather and me just don't get along.

@IreneVincent I hear that. I will probably do the same. Unless I have to go out for something.

I don't like cold weather either. Today its very chilly outside. I have my pellet stove on and I'm still not as warm as I'd like to be. I hate to think of three or more months of winter just starting. I plan to hibernate in the house as much as I can, only venturing out on warmer days.

Yes, I get dry skin during the Winter time especially. I find myself reapplying lotion throughout the day or else I will be even more ashy!

Drink a lot of water and other liquids. That is the best strategy for dry skin. Lotions help but the hydration needs to come from the inside, not the outside, I think. I try to drink water all throughout the day.

My skin gets so dry it just flakes off. I try to drink a lot of water and use moisturizing lotion too. I need a humidifier, I think.

Our house is old and somewhat draughty, so we don't suffer this!

I guess that's a good thing then. I hope you live in a warm area though.

@Auntylou Wearing layers is a good idea. Yesterday, I had on a pullover shirt with a button up shirt and a jacket and then a wrap over that. It was cold outside and the wind was blowing. I had to go see my chiropractor though, so I dressed warm and went across town. He helps me so much with my back and neck problems.
