If you name your baby, you should keep in mind that she would have to live with it for the rest of her life. A name maybe cute for her as a baby, but would it still be cute for her as a grandma. Do you know some people with ridiculous names?

Very true!! Sometimes I hear some names and I feel sorry for the person as he/she has to been living with it!! Especially when I see a girl having a guy's name or vice-versa!!

@Irving35 Yeah, no problems with neutral name, but if the name is gender specific, then you have to be careful!! Like, in my last organization, I was a Recruiter!! So, once a guy came and his name was Priyanka( which is a girl's name). I called out the name to take the interview and I glanced towards the girls who were sitting there, and suddenly this guy rose his hand and said , "Here", and I was quite surprised by it!!!

@Rationalwriter You remind me of a friend of me in college. Being a boy, he has a beautiful female name. In a camp, they almost put him in the tent for girls.

Yeah, I think it's important to name your baby boy a male name, and your baby girl a female name. Some names are neutral (gender wise) though.

There are some names I cannot comprehend why a parent would give to their children. Some celebrities tend to give odd names to their children.

I know what you are talking about. I wonder why those celebrities name their children odd names. The children would still be popular with ordinary names.

You are right. I don't know if their children would be grateful for their name choices.

I think so. I am a fan of old and "ordinary" names myself. I think it's ridiculous to name your baby a ridiculous name just because it sounds different.

In Germany nonsense names aren't accepted by the registry office which is a good thing in my opinion.

@Irving35 Yes, that can happen. If they can prove that the name is a name in a different languages, it may be accepted. But it's more that silly nicknames aren't accepted.

That is a good thing. I wonder how the office decide, which names are nonsense names though. Do the parents registering their baby's name have to explain about where the name come from?

Creativity in naming is good so long as it reflects the person through out his/her life in a positive way. Hope, Faith, and Joy are representative of that.
