Do you care about stores being open on Thanksgiving?

Lately on Facebook, I have been seeing a lot of posts and pictures related to congratulating certain stores who have vowed to be closed on Thanksgiving day. I am not one of those who cares either way.
I guess having the store be open on that day means some workers will not have the time to spend with family so I think the stores should make some kind of deal with each person.
On the other hand, I'm not opposed to them being open because every year at my family's dinners, someone always forgets something... like an important part of their recipes, or we run out of soda. therefore I think the stores should be open at least a few hours.

The stores need to be closed. Simple as that.

I think they should be closed, if you forget oh well, be creative. No one should have to work on a day like Thanksgiving except emergency personal at least in my opinion.

I remember when the only stores you could find open on Thanksgiving was something like a Liquor Store. Invariably, somebody would have to go out to get some forgotten item, and they did have a few cans of cranberry sauce available for those people... Somehow, we got by. Now, most grocery chains are open at least part of the day. I guess it's convenient, but I will not plan to do my shopping that day. If all of the stores are closed, I can live with that too. If we didn't get it, we can do without it.

Like you, it doesn't personally affect me since I don't shop on Thanksgiving - or if I do, it's online. But I do think it's a good thing to move away from the all-out commercialism that Thanksgiving shopping signifies. So, I'm glad to see stores stay closed on that day.
