I am saddened by the execution of our own Chinese national FanJingHui in the hands of cowards who called themselves the IS. At the same time I'm livid with the statement made by our Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei who said that the government had made "all out efforts" to rescue him. What efforts did our government make to rescue him? Since the war started in Syria, China has been staying on the sidelines and even when our national FanJingHui was abducted I believe the majority of the Chinese would agree with me, that we did not see the government sparing any effort with the rescue. Not only did we not send any fighter planes to take out the IS but we did not send our elite group to standby for a ground rescue operation like what the US would have done sending their Delta or Seals teams to rescue their own. It is really a joke for a government spokesman to make such a statement when it was obvious - NOTHING was done!
Beijing has vowed to bring ISIS to justice after the group said it had killed a Chinese and a Norwegian hostage.

That is so sad indeed that the government didn't do anything to save FanJongHui .

I have to wonder what did our government do regarding the efforts to save the deceased hostage. Never mind the fact that we did not send planes to bomb IS but where are our much talked about elite counter terrorism teams standing by to attempt a ground rescue.

@SIMPLYD I simply cannot tolerate the lack of sense of urgency when the IS had a Chinese hostage where we around the world are witnessing the ruthlessness of these cowards. Which of those executed did not have their countries negotiate for them? If they were executed what does it tell us? Keep calling them and offer them more "gifts" or give in to more of their demands?

This is definitely sad news. But then, it is not just with China. Even many other Governments at the moment are not taking the right steps to curb and contain the menace these people have been spreading. Eventually, the silence will be broken, it is just a matter of time for now. My opinion is that they are playing safe and think that staying away from a direct intervention will keep them safer for long.

I can understand the stance in the UN meetings but when one of our own is in critical situation, our country did not even lift off our special elites that are trained in hostage rescue situations to there and standby for a forceful option should negotiations failed. If doing everything does not have ground troops ready then that is not doing everything it takes to rescue one of our own. IS has been executing their hostages and our representative there should have saw it coming and seek out military options.

@artemeis Yes, it is sad when the country does nothing to save you but you do so much for the Nation.

very sad loss of another innocent victim of an insane theo-ideology - ISIS is fighting on too many fronts as it is without taking on China too

I think they already have since they executed a Chinese national hostage along with a Norwegian. I really do not see anything good or favoring them by going against everyone. I suppose they want all the attention on them now.

@arthurchappell I like to know how they could be so audacious and could not help giving that Putin outburst of their supposedly supporters a real thought. ISIS is also having a very dangerous and effective strategy - domestic terrorists.

Oh, it is really very bad. Brussels is already in a state of emergency. Mali just reported a raid in their Radisson Hotel in the capital which is housing foreign diplomatic delegates and have taken 170 hostages.

That was a horrifying situation. When is the rest of the world going to be able to stop IS?

I don't think this is going to be over in a matter of specific period, just look at the situation in Brussels where the mastermind has eluded capture even with the extensive and elaborate plans in placed. So you can imagine the spread here.

I am saddened by this news. In the US, we know IS does not stop with one. They don't care what country you are from. If you aren't with them, you are the enemy. I hope China will ramp up efforts to prevent further suffering from terrorism.

This group has to be stopped at all cost because they are killing the Muslims as well in the name of Islam. What atrocity and irony.

@artemeis it just doesn't make any sense to me. It isn't even religion that matters to them, even though they claim it. Everyone is in danger, and we all must stand together to stop them.

It is really sad that another execution had been carried out and this time on my countryman. It is absolutely insensible and unnecessary.
