Some people do not like to eat garlic, but garlic has a lot of good properties. It is a powerful anti-parasitic natural medicine. It is a natural anticoagulant.

Some people do not eat onions and garlic in fear that it will make their breath stink. It is better to move past that because unions and garlic are good for you. I know for a fact that they help the immune system quite a bit.

@BethieAnnie - Your point about breath seems alright, however, it could not be the main reason for not consuming onion by some people.

It is difficult sometimes for garlic eaters to understand because they do not detect the odor. I like onion but not too often, garlic in moderation. With heavy use it can stay in your system for a long time. That is good for heath but strong in odor too.

I love both and eat them in large quantity. I put garlic in nearly everything I cook. I also use garlic medicinally. It is not only anti-parasitic and anti-coagulant, it is a natural diuretic and antibiotic with no side effects. Both onion and garlic heal colds and keeps your immune system healthy. As well as eating garlic, it can be applied externally to infections and will heal the infection quickly. As for the odor, oh yes, garlic builds up an odor. Eating parsley helps to counteract the odor, also eating an apple daily will do the trick. Odor or not, I will never give up my garlic and onions. I have never repelled anyone yet..lol

Garlic is a good source of mineral and vitamins. However, some people feel allergic to the smell of Garlic and/or onion and some are of the view it is against their religion/sect to consume garlic and onion. After all it is their choice, what they want to eat or not to eat, despite knowing about benefits.

Two reasons I know of not to eat. Many people are allergic to onions and garlic (I have several colleagues with that problem) and for religious reasons (Jains don't eat them lest insects get killed)

I ate twice in Jain restaurants last time I was in Mumbai. The food was fabulous and it had neither garlic nor onion. I was pretty surprised how good it was.

@boiboing Jainism does not support onion / garlic still have a good food by taste. Frankly speaking, I am a fan of onion, garlic and ginger as well. I need at least one of the 3 daily. :-D

I remember a family back in the 70ties that always had garlic breath when they came to church. I wondered what they could have eaten for breakfast that would taste good with garlic.

@gamyam - Onions and garlics contain many medicines. They help us fighting the dangerous diseases. But still not liked 1. Odour not pleasant 2. Religious problem 3. Ignorance about the its benefits. 4. Personal likes and dislikes

I think it entirely depends on the person taste and preference and it varies from each individuals and we cannot segregate them at once
