My ex who I am seeing asked me to watch his son after school for two hours. A few days ago I noticed that the camera on the new ipod I won a few months back was broken. At first I decided to not allow the kids to use it anymore at all. I know how much my son enjoys it though so I made a new rule that it is only to be used by them while sitting on the living room couch. The boy I was babysitting told me I can get the camera fixed cheap. I told him that I do not have insurance for it and am not paying to fix it. He told me "Here's an idea for you...get a job." I was so mad. I told him how rude that was to say that to me. I told him I would have more money if made his father pay me to watch him. Today my 8 year old son asked me for fresh carrots and ranch dressing. I told him I didn't have any right now. He told me to get a job! Lovely!

He must have heard someone (probably an adult) said it before.

Some other time when things are good between you and him maybe "Take him to work" for a day. Let him see your job around the house.

I'd almost be tempted to dump the kids with a list of "to-dos" so they can "earn their keep"....

oh, that's bad. cuz I'm leaving my job. I don't think get a job can be the answer. Well, he must have no understanding about jobs. yeah

"Kids these days"...unfortunately I feel kids being disrespectful seems to be the new normal these days. I fear what my children will be like in the future.
