I love taking pictures. I always have. Living at the beach, there are usually photo opportunities, but lately, it seems I am photographing the same old things. Although the ocean is beautiful, and ever changing, one can only stand so many pictures of it in the photo library. They all begin to look the same. Any tips out there for spicing up my photography experiences?

Seagull
Sometimes the most interesting photos are the ones of things that aren't necessarily beautiful. Sometimes a different angle on an ordinary object is interesting. Sometimes I snap photos out of the windows of moving cars. I never know what it will capture. Sometimes I snap photos out of the windows of parked cars. Sometimes a seagull decides to stand on the hood of your car while your eating something at McDonalds, and stare in at you, waiting for the scraps.

Take the people what they are doing at the beach - looking at shells, playing games...smooching on the blanket...

I'm an ametur photographer myself, and I really enjoy taking photos of anything and everything. A few months ago, though, my camera disappeared, and I don't know where it could have gone. Hopefully I'll be able to get a new one, soon.

Well, @cindiowens, it's been several months, and I haven't found it yet. If my mother gets me a new camera for Christmas, we've agreed that if I ever find my old camera, I'd give it to her.

That's a good question! How many beautiful sunsets behind the Golden Gate Bridge can I take? I like capturing kids doing what they love to do. Especially when they don't notice me. But I'm going through the same thing.

Go macro, down and dirty, up close and personal. The same old things look quite different when zeroed in. The pic you put up combined with our weather lately really makes me long for the beach.

I do some macro, but not a lot. I like playing with different effects. Maybe I should broaden my horizons a bit and try more macro.

@CallieWVU2 I was on a site similar to that, but never sold anything. I think it was more of a social thing, and nobody came there to buy very often. It was DeviantArt.

I like taking pictures too and have a good camera. My subjects are around me - the garden, the sky, the pets................You need to have a good camera that will help you spice up your pictures.

I love photography as well. I love to take Macro shots for fun. I may take a Macro flower, rock, or bug. I have a great time, and it gives me something new to shoot. I also love to capture different perspectives in old trees, and old houses and barns. You would be surprise how different a tree looks from laying on the ground shooting upward.

make a list of things you write about and look for key words you can take photos to use as illustrations - that is what I do.

you can always try different angles and distances. verticals, dutch and panoramas. i get what your saying though. i live in a farming/desert community and a lot of around here is agriculture, sand and flat land. sometimes i take my cheap camera and drive around not forcing a photo, but just observe till something catches my eye.

I understand what you mean by how pictures look the same if you are taking them around the beach or ocean.Different lighting, special effects and different angles would spice the pictures up a bit. Or maybe using props with children on the beach.
