I have been thinking about the wear and tear we give to our hands and wrists on a daily basis. As many of you know, I work as a stock clerk. I am constantly
using my hands to lift, to open boxes, to tear them down. Of course I use a box cutter to cut the boxes but still I use my hands to do so. I have been having
some troubles with my left wrist recently. It hurts for awhile and I move it around to try to flex it and pinpoint the source of the pain.
When I come home I use my hands to type, to lift my kindle up whilst I lie down and read. I use my hands to play my favorite minecraft mini games, I use them to
cook and clean. You get my drift by now I am sure. I have a pair of fingerless gloves they are specifically designed to be tight on your hands and wrist to relieve pressure
and pain. I wear them sometimes if my hand hurts and it surely does help. What other exercises can one do to keep their hands and wrists healthy?

I worry about getting arthritis in my hands as I get older, or having carpal tunnel because of the wear and tear. I suppose it's par for the course in my chosen career though.

You're probably getting some form of tendinitis. Ibuprofen helps relieve swelling. You should probably rest the hands as much as possible when you're not working.
I'm sure I'll eventually have similar problems. I count money all day. It's not so much wear and tear on my wrists as on my fingers. When I have a particularly large stack of bills to count I do get some cramps in my hands. One of my coworkers who has been a teller for 20 years can no longer count it the way everyone else does, he has to set each bill down as he counts. It takes him ages to do it, but these are the sorts of things that happen as you get older.
