Day 4 – Being Mighty
1 Chronicles 11
From the time we were challenged on the playground we wanted to show our might. But what does it really take to be mighty?
David had thirty mighty men, and three were considered the mightiest of all of them. Might was proven by how many Philistines a person could take out by themselves. It was all about who was the greatest in war.
Today we look at our military heroes as mighty men. They have proven records to show their might in battle.
As Christians we have another kind of battle we participate in daily. Our enemy is Satan. He is ruthless. He intends to win every battle and does whatever it takes to get us to stumble and fall. Yet we have a Captain who proved His might on the battlefield – the cross, and won. He battled for the lives of every living soul on earth from the foundation of the world to the time of His return and the final defeat of Satan during the Tribulation. He doesn’t give ground, He takes it.
We are to do the same. When Satan comes after us to defeat us, we need to remember who we are and who our Captain is, Jesus Christ, and remember the price He paid for our redemption. The price was His blood on Calvary’s cross. That alone should cause us to stand up to our enemy and defeat him because he was already defeated on the cross. Our job as soldiers in this war is to remind him of his defeat and his future in the Lake of Fire and Brimstone with the beast and false prophet.
Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (KJV)
We are counted among the mighty when we take a stand with Jesus Christ and don’t allow Satan any control over our lives. Will we lose some battles? Yes, but we will not lose the war. We just need to remember whose we are and when we do fall in battle, go to our healer – Jesus Christ and He will take care of all our battle wounds.
We are in a war and we need to be on our guard every moment of every day or Satan will defeat us when we aren’t paying attention. We can only be mighty when we stand with our Captain, Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord.
Let’s pray: Father, help me be one of Your mighty men. Help me be on guard against all Satan’s deceptions and prove myself worthy under Your command. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
