There was a time when books like Treasure Island, Robinson Crusoe, Tom Sawyer used to thrill children's mind. They also liked futuristic science fiction of Jules Verne. As it is observed now few children read those books. Very few are seen reading the works of modern writers too. I haven't seen the whole world. I look around and see this to be the situation. I wonder if books will disappear from the children's life one day. What is your opinion friends?

by books you mean the stories or the books in paperback form?
I am pretty optimistic that children literature will still live long. the era where almost everything accessible is really convenient for them to reach those. there are cool stories that may interest them, proven by the many productions of such books, let's say for example Harry Potter, The Ranger apprentice, Samarkand, etc. though agree that their preference may differ from us when we were in the same age as them.

I wish to be optimistic too. I feel happy to see some children still read books. True, their preference has changed.I hope more children will turn back to books if they find them pleasurable.

@franxav well nowadays It is integrated to their gadgets. gadgets are everywhere and kids now have their own. books are now available as gadget friendly so it is common here to see kids reading on their tabs, cells, though yeah, I saw most of them were actually manga. yet as long as it is there, the possibility is limitless. I think more problematic thing is the writing production isn't as many.

Honestly I never really enjoyed those classic books as entertainment but I always read fiction books and history books. It makes me sad that kids don't know how good a book can be.

To be honest, I haven't read many classics too. Some of them were prescribed for my university degree so I had to study them closely. I did enjoy them.I don't think I ever read any other after that. The longest book I read recently was J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter.

@franxav (38) It is a pity, but the number of children who like to read is getting smaller.
