Deep incised wound

I have a heart ailment. I am taking Coumadin 2.5mg before every supper and I stay away from eating dark green leafy vegetables because these have high Vitamin K content. Coumadin is an anti-thrombotic drug that should make my blood less viscous. As such, I have to protect myself from cuts and wounds.
My mistake last night was I opened a canned ham for our supper, and without any cloth to protect my hands, I accidentally cut my right thumb; so incised and deep that it bled profusely. I immediately washed it with running water, sucked my thumb, and applied a medium-sized band aid and plastered it tight. The bleeding did not stop. There was a throbbing pain too.
I had my duty with my thumb freshly dressed again. When I removed the band aid, the blood gushed again. My blood was not dark red, it was light red. (I am anemic and have low blood pressure).
I guess my white blood cells and thrombocytes will work triple time to build my skin and control my bleeding. I still have to take my Coumadin though, every evening, as prophylaxis to my heart ailment.

how's your wound Ate? It's good I didn't see blood on the attached picture.
Be extra careful next time, okay? I remember once when I was frying some fish. (natilamsikan). I think you could just imagine how small the wound is. But when I tried to apply Betadine, I almost fainted. My face and lips turned white.

Good morning hija. The wound is healed now. I removed the plaster ( keeping the open wound edges close) and now a new skin filled the gap. You really don't like to see blood, right? Hahah!!!

Warfarin should actually be taken just before meals for me. Maybe your husband does not have his blood checked periodically by his doctor? I hope your husband is now treated with warfarin, my friend.

@ridingbet No, he can't take it at all now - he has something else but I can't remember what it's called. He does have his blood checked regularly.
I hope you are ok now Ingrid.

@jaboUK I am okay now, my friend.I had lunch in school and the vegetable I bought was monggo with green leaves, so I had to remove those leaves and ate the monggo. I still take my coumadin before every supper.

To stop the blood flow, you just take some pure turmeric powder and cover the wound and slightly press it with your finger for a few seconds. The bleeding will stop immediately. Turmeric is an antibiotic so no need to worry. This is emergency treatment only to stop the bleeding.

thank you but I have some means to control the bleeding. the bleeding is actually expected because I take coumadin.

having deep wounds cause our blood to ooze out, especially if an artey is accidentally hit. I had to close tight my wound with that plaster, and I had to keep my thumb always dry. You can imagine me shampooing my hair and putting soap in my body, or using the spoon, with my right thumb 'away from the other 4 digits'? I looked funny, my lady.

Sorry to hear about your heart condition.
I had to be on coumadin after my knee surgery. I am allergic to aspirin.

But may I ask why were you on coumadin when you had your knee surgery? It causes the blood to be less viscous and therefore the blood flows like water.

I have my PTPA checked every 2 months. the previous was just within my normal range. That is why I restrict myself from eating the dark green leafy vegetables.
