Unfair

Its been 33 years and I still feel that my mom is being unfair to us 5 children. Yes, I have 4 siblings. I am the eldest. But I always feel that my mom has all the favors for my younger brother (the fifth). He's 22. Her decisions depend on him. If he likes it, she agrees. Do you think I'm just sensitive?

I agree with @boiboing, you need to get over it. Mothers do the best they can and I am sure she loves you. I was put in an orphanage and my divorced parents remarried and had second families while I was there. My two brothers and I got lost in the shuffle and were pretty much abandoned. Today, I have a good relationship with everyone. So what if I missed out on some of the love and other things. Life is so much more important that that. Be thankful you have a mom who loves you. Many children never know their parents or worse are abused by them. Count your blessings and go on with life.

@dorianna I heard someone on the radio once say that if you're over 7 years old and you expect life to be 'fair' then it's time to grow up because it doesn't work that way.

I don't think you are being too sensitive. You clearly see the unfairness. I went through this growing up. But, it was after my Mom passed away that I understood why she favored my sibling. It wasn't that she didn't love me as much. It was about her own issues from the past.

I think you need to get over it and get on with your life. That kind of thing is fine when you're a kid but holding a grudge at your age is harming nobody but yourself.

Mothers do have some special love with a particular child but it is nothing to worry about. I am sure your mother loves you more than you think. No one loves us more than our mothers
