Farting, Burping and Smoking all at the same time

This one went a little too far if you ask me. Sunday I woke up to the cocks crowing, the birds chirping, and Dakota sitting on top of me licking my face. He was telling me it was Sunday and the sun was already shining. Yes, but what Dakota doesn’t understand is how to tell time. It was just 5:30 in the morning and it was Sunday. On Sunday morning this is Dakota’s time and mine alone. We take a long walk and enjoy the early morning sun. Dakota is let off his chain, to run on the beach and play in the sand. I sit and laugh at this little guy as he runs around digging giant holes looking for buried treasure. By the way he hasn’t discovered any yet. On the way home we always stop at the Moon Ray to have Sunday coffee and share a delicious order of Poulet Roti, FeiFei, and some other special treats. The little restaurant we visit is typical of the islands. They have an area indoors for guest or you can choose to sit outside and enjoy your day. We always sit outside because as you know dogs aren’t allowed inside. Today one of the outside tables was occupied by this older man. He sat there with his face almost in his plate of scooping food into his mouth with his hands. The only time he came up for a breath of air was to let out this astronomical burp. He immediately dug right back in. He had a cigarette lit sitting in the ashtray, He would look up from his plate of food and take a few drags of his cigarette and go back to eating. As I was waiting for my coffee and food to be delivered the beauty and tranquility of the morning was rudely interrupted. This guy let off the loudest fart I think I have ever heard. The world around me stood still, the birds stopped singing and Dakota sought refuse under the table. Immediately the air around me became filled with this toxic gas, my eyes watered, and I could no longer breathe. I immediately started to search for the emergency gas masks that the establishment should have on hand for incidents such as this. I waited to hear the air raid sirens going off, but to my bewilderment nothing happened. This happened two more times and I couldn’t take anymore. I asked the waitress to box up my delicious morning meal so I could leave. When Sunday comes this week I don’t think I’ll ever have the same enthusiasm that I have had in the past. I’ll never visit the Moon Ray on Sunday morning again. I’ll be too afraid to run into this person sitting at a table shoveling down his food, smoking while he eats and farting up a storm. I fear the place needs to have a fumigator called in to get rid of this order he left behind. Have you ever uncounted a person like this when you tried to enjoy a beautiful day and drink your morning coffee? Image source – pixabay.com

OMG!!! What an encounter. I guess he figured since he was sitting outdoors, that it was ok, to do all those things. Jeeze. Some people have no respect for themselves or others. I have to ask, was this a homeless person by any chance? I mean the way you describe him eating his food.

@poehere Oh no! I guess maybe since he was alone (eating that is) that he was doing the things he probably couldn't do if he was at home in the presence of company. I am sure he went to church afterwards and repented for his wrong doings. It was quite inconsiderate of him to say the least.

No not at all. He was nicely dressed and looked like he was going to church after he ate. He had on a pair of black pants and a white shirt. This is how the men dress for church here on the islands. I still have no clue what made him think he could sit there and eat like this and make those horrible sounds and smells. Doesn't he realize that others want to enjoy their Sunday morning too.

@TexanTornado I find that a lot of people with these disgusting habits at a table could care less what others think of them. I am not sure there is any repentance in the world that could be offered that will make up for what he did to spoil by wonderful Sunday morning coffee and outing with Dakota. The little guy is so excited when Sunday comes. It is like he can count the day of the week and knows it is time to go to the beach.

I giggled at the mental image of the dog hiding in terror from the fumes, what an unpleasant ruin to a nice morning....but a funny story

Thank you so much. I wanted to write this one up on Sunday when it happened but decided to wait. I had one that I had done earlier and didn't want too many on the site. Besides yesterday I tried to catch up on the site and find the posts I had missed reading for a day or two. Yes my poor little dog did this one. But I left out the best one. He had to cover his eyes and was doggy sneezing and trying to bury his face in my leg.

What a very funny yet disgusting incident you encountered there . Burping would be okay for me , but smelling and hearing a fart from a person , twice is too much . What a shameful thing to do .

@poehere I think what made you annoyed was that you smelled his foul smelling fart which is so disgusting indeed.

@SIMPLYD Yah the order filled the room and we were outside on top of it. So it was powerful and really lingered in the air.

Yes it was. But now I have written this and I sit here thinking back on this one I am laughing really hard. It was like an event or a description that a person would tell at a comedy shop. One that would get the audience going and they would fall out of their chairs laughing. Now this is how I am looking at it but the day it happened I did not think it was all that funny.

That is totally disgusting. I would of gotten up and left the table. There are a few unspoken rules in my home if you eat at my table. One is no vulgar, disgusting sound, no farting, no talking about blood and guts, and especially no talking about bowl movements or dog vomit or poop. These subject are discussed away from the table and not when you're eating.

I was always taught if you had gas leave the room and save the others. I guess it doesn't hold true for people in public. I just had to write about this because it was really bad. Might be one of the more popular topic on the site but I did try and make it comical and very descriptive so people had a good image in their minds of what happened.

I suppose the problem is if you've got to let a fart rip you've got to let one rip. But yes an apology might have been nice.

I always told my daughter and my grand kids you know when it's coming because your stomach warns you. Get up and leave the room. That is one thing I can't stand and if by chance it does slip out then you need to excuse yourself and tell everyone how sorry you are. Just don't sit there and continue to do this one.

Things like this can happen if we nourish the bad bacteria in our gut.. We can choose to eat some fermented veggies like sauerkraut, or take some pro biotic in capsule form. I keep a small jar with capsules with Acidophilus, as I don't want to contribute to the air pollution or global warming.. Yes, the lactic acid bacteria, are our really good friends.

My goodness, that is so rude! He should rather stay inside his house so he could fart as loud as he wants and behave anyway he want without affecting the people who want to enjoy the beauty of the day. He was not taught good manners and right conduct!

Yes I did survive this one but poor little Dakota had to leave and bull doze his nose in the ground so he could get the smell out of his nose. He is a lot more sensitive to smell than we are and I think it last a lot longer for him that it does for us.

Oh, how disgusting! I couldn't get past him eating with his hands and then the belching and farting just grossed me out. I would have left too. You know it has to be bad if your dog tries to hide from the smell.

Yes and he is tiny. He is not a big outdoors dog like my other one. He is a little tiny house dog and he basically spends a lot of time in the house. He is out in my yard a lot but he loves to come back in the house. Here on the islands he is the only dog I have ever had that I let in my house. The other ones are way too big to come in my home.

Oh my no. Your picture of the tranquil scene interrupted by the man and his noise, was hilarious, though I have no doubt you will hesitate to visit the Moon Ray again, or make certain the coast is clear before you enjoy your morning fare. I can imagine even Dakota will look around to make sure the coast is clear and he won't be hiding from the toxic fumes.

i don't like anyone smoking beside me so i remove my hankie and put on my nose because i hate that smell, how cant they smoke in that place because we have here not allow to smoke in restaurant or at coffee shop or food shop.why you not tell him to stop smoke or that place manager.its not good behavior for him.here also not smoke around children and womens.

We were outside the place. They have a nice patio area outside that is away from where others eat. There they can smoke. The smoking wasn't bothering me as much as his other bad habits and when he kept farting I had to leave it was way too much for me.

Yikess.. This is so outrageously funny and yes yikes.. How can someone do all this in a restaurant? I thought burping in public was bad.. My son says a burp is a fart escaping the wrong way..

Oh got that is even too much funnier. I never mind a person burping in public or even at home. I do burp myself from time to time. But this guy was way out of line and I don't know why the Moon Ray didn't kick him out. I guess it was because it was still early in the morning and he was the only one there. I am sure if others had come in they would of thrown him away.

Poor old man–I mean–sorry that happened to you. Here in the state of Washington it is illegal to smoke inside any public building and with 50 ft. (15 meters). But there's no laws about burping and farting.

Yes I can see why people shouldn't smoke inside a building. This is an outside part of the Moon Ray and they have it set up according to the laws here on the islands that people can smoke in this area. Many establishments have these ares because now you can't smoke inside. They did this about 3 years ago.
