Is money evil?

Age old question: is money the root of all evil or is the lack of money the root of all evil? Personally, like most people I prefer to have it. Of course we have individuals in our society who are wealthy and still want more moolah, like oil companies and insurance corporations. Conversely, you have others who will lie, extort and even kill to get "paid". So many crimes are committed daily in pursuit of cash which supports the theory that it's the lack of finances that cause evil actions. I applaud Wal-Mart for raising its hourly rate and would love to see studies on how this small change effects workers and their families.
Let me take my chances. Even if money can't buy happiness, I have never seen a broke happy individual. Have you?

hi :) no individual can be happy without money even if is only a little bit of it. i just think that people say that money doesnt give us happiness because there are too many people that only care about material things and put that in front of things with more value.

That is the most misquoted Bible verse ever, it says the LOVE of money is the root of all evil, not money itself.

Money is not evil being greedy makes the person evil and I guess the want to have power and rule makes some people evil.

It's neither money nor the lack of it that's the root of evil, but rather the Love of money that is the root of all evil, is what the Bible says, and that is what I believe too.

All of us have the potential to be evil, wealthy or poor. These days a lot of our eveil we face today has nothing to do with money, which is very very sad

The Bible says that the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. We all need money to pay our bills, but I have seen a lot of miserable rich people. It depends on what you truly value.
