Terrorists Have Played Right Into the Hand of Donald Trump

When you're a bad guy, hell-bent on destroying the earth, who is the one person on the face of the earth you don't want to mess with (well, besides Putin, who is kicking ass right now)? It's the President of the United States, the leader of the free world. So, as a terrorist, having a weak President like Obama is good for their business, because they (the terrorists) can wreck havoc on the world and not worry about the US President destroying them! So obviously these terrorists aren't following American politics too closely right now. The last guy on earth that they want in power would be Donald Trump, because he will slap their little terrorist asses back to the Stone Age! Which completely baffles me as to why they would want to step up their terror attacks around the world NOW, when the US is heading into election season? Don't they understand that their reign of terror plays right into the hands of Donald Trump? Why would they want to do anything that would even conceivably increase Trump's popularity? Because that is exactly what happened after the Paris attacks! Trump's popularity, which had finally started to wane in the weeks leading up to the attacks, immediately skyrocketed again after the attacks. If Trump gets elected, and sends these terrorists packing to meet their Maker, they have no one to blame but themselves, because it will be their idiotic actions that get him elected.

A crooked logic, maybe only understandable for US Americans.

Yes, I agree, it's a rather simplistic look on the world. Obviously, the real world is not that simple.

@MALUSE I'm American, and it's not any more understandable for me than it is for you.

@yukimori I think the only thing I do understand is that we live in a crazy world; it keeps getting crazier all the time; and we keep going about our shallow lives as if nothing bad is happening around us. Or, if at least we are aware of what is going on around us, we continually fail to use common sense and elect leaders who are going to unite us instead of divide us!

Interesting perspective. But does Trump really have a chance of getting elected?

@ThankyouLord It just baffles me how he is able to maintain such a strong lead in the polls. Every time he opens his mouth, he spits out hatred and anger and empty rhetoric. Even when he offends people and groups, his popularity just continues to rise.

If the dems have their way, of course not. If certain factions in the republican party have theirs, no, again. But I think he stands a great chance of getting elected short of a meteor falling on his head, or a heart attack takes him out. Or, a rigged election. Not that that could EVER happen, right?

@moffittjc He's a reality TV star, after all, and he knows how to get ratings. And for reality TV minded viewers, he's the perfect candidate. Reminds me of the movie Idiocracy.

I don't think he could be any worse than some we have had in the past. Look at Bush Senior and his son Bush junior and now the other Bush wants to be pres. lol What a farce that is. The war monguring Bushes would be at it again.

I think we're going to be doing a lot of war mongering regardless of who is elected President.

I wish we had John F. Kennedy back @moffittjc and @Marcyaz .At least he had the balls to tell Khrushchev and Castro he'd blow them to kingdom come. And he meant it too.

@moffittjc - He's by no means the only Republican candidate pledging to go postal on ISIS, but he does seem to know how to push the media's buttons better than any other. His big trouble is going to be getting the US military onside, because his plans are short-sighted and offer no long-term remedy for this complex war.

I think he'll have no problem getting the military on his side; if our powerful military can sit back for eight years and watch Obama let the world go to hell, then they certainly will have no problem following Trump. He'll build up the military, instead of break it down like Obama's been doing.

@troyburns You are correct! The biggest problem we are facing right now is a lack of an effective strategy for dealing with these terrorists organizations. But it takes leadership from the top, and right now our President isn't providing the necessary leadership or strategy for dealing with this complex, worldwide issue.

@moffittjc - No president has raised the military's budget as much as Obama has, since the Second World War at least. Your forces are still the most powerful in the world, but their impact has been dissipated by poor strategy and a lack of focused aggression. This isn't entirely the fault of the US though - there are too many players on the board now and I don't think Trump understands that.

But the the 9/11 attacks occurred while a so called strong president was in charge. Arabs, especially extremists want a minimal respect, that is the main thing they want. I saw some of his interviews and debates and Donald trump is not even a republican in his nature. I sense so much more than the eye can see, but I don't want to open it up.

@ThankyouLord I had a similar theory on why the US wasn't bombing the oil fields from the beginning, and that was because we didn't want the price of oil to skyrocket. In the end it's always about the money and oil, isn't it? On the other hand, I read an interesting article the other day in which many of our senior military officials said that they wanted to bomb the oil fields from the beginning, but the Obama administration feared the environmental damage it would cause.

That is true! In the end, it probably doesn't matter at all who is President, the terrorists are going to strike whenever they have the opportunity, strong President or not.

It's time to make different choices. They will be tough choices, but there is no alternative. Standing by our historical image during these times doesn't work any more. Doing nothing is just as bad as the bad guys. And these days, it's really hard to tell who the bad guys are. ISIS is obvious, but there is a lot going on behind the curtains.

I wonder what the solution will be in the long run? We just can't bomb our way out of these crises around the world, but we also can't just ignore it! I've started to see and hear some chatter that maybe it's time to drop another nuclear bomb, as that would send a strong signal that we're not playing games anymore. Not sure I agree with that logic, but it surely would scare the living daylights out of a lot of people!

@moffittjc Or we could become like the old Soviet Union. Pull all our troops from all other countries and line our borders. Nobody in, nobody out.

@nanette64 But we are the self-proclaimed policemen of the world! The entire world would go to hell if we did something like that! lol (or at least that's what "they" want us to believe)

I doubt that ISIS even know about Mr Trump nor care. And what right does the USA have to act as policeman of the world? You should be glad Obama is relatively peaceable, intervention made things worse in Iraq and Afghanistan

We don't have any "right" to police the world; however, many countries turn to us (and the UK) for help when things go wrong. Good or bad, the US always seems to be willing to help those in need (at least as long as it benefits our government to do so)

I don't think the terrorists care who the president is. In fact, I think they would prefer one who sends troops to fight them in their country. They want to kill Americans, that will be easier to do if the Americans come to them.

Not that I support such action, but I wonder what would happen if we just dropped a nuclear bomb on one of these terrorist strongholds? Do you think they'd get the message then? Or do you think they'll just keep acting like a bunch of idiots and killing people? What if we said we're going to drop a nuclear bomb every time there was a terrorist attack somewhere? Nuclear annihilation has historically been a very good deterrent to keep bad guys from acting out of line.

@norcal I never thought about that, but you are right! I think they really want to cause the destruction of the world, so any nuclear response from world superpowers would be a welcome event to these terrorists!

@moffittjc I think that, in this case, it would not matter. That may even be their goal. I saw a program on TV last night. CNN’s Fareed Zakaria Hosts ‘Blindsided: How ISIS Shook the World.’ He said he believed their goal was to bring on the "endtimes." So, in other words, the end of the world. Their goal is to provoke. They might even welcome nuclear annihilation, with the goal of taking us with them.

@moffittjc I think it wouldn't matter who is president really. I think terrorists just get too much of a kick out of harming others to care who is president. I just wish all these attacks would stop but it only seems to be getting much worse. I feel WW3 coming.

At some point, all the First World powers are going to have to join forces to put a stop to ISIS and terrorism and other extremism. Somehow, some way, the US, Russia, China and others are going to have to work together to bring stability back to the world.
