I wanted to buy a new cheap watch that I could wear to work as mine had died on me. I looked on Amazon and found many cheap watches for only £2 which is around $5. I was tempted to buy one as they looked really nice and I only wanted one for work anyway. I however decided against it, and opted to buy one for £10 ($20) at my local store. Have you ever bought one for that much and if so did it last long? Image sourced from Pixabay.

Here in Spain there are watches on sale for 3 Euros, which is just over £2. We always buy one or two as they are less than the cost of a new battery. So far they are excellent, and keep good time.

The cheapest I ever got was $10 and it did last a long time. As a matter of fact, I'm in the market for another one right about now.

When I used to wear a watch I often bought cheap ones for £5 on the local market. They worked fine, but rarely lasted much longer than a year or so.

@gudheart It's been around the $1.50-1.60 for the last 2 years in not longer so $5 is £3.12-3.30, little less than I said.

Though I am not a watch-wearing person but to be honest, In India we get watches which cost Rs. 100(around a pound) and they run for atleast 3 months!!! I feel it's fair deal!!

That is not bad for a pound. Do they look good too?

I bought a watch for my son for $10 for about a year. It still works very well. It is even water proof and he just wears it to the swimming pool and beaches and he doesn't have to put it off. So it is very convenient for us to know the time. This is a very durable watch and it is so worthy.

Would you think it would not be worth to buy one for $5? I am guessing it wouldn't last long if I did?

Yes, I have a cheap watch which has worked fine for years. It is the batteries and the straps which cost the most! I would prefer to buy one I had at least seen though, rather than from the web.

True, the batteries and strap are usually the costly parts!

I have a cheap watch that cost £5 that I wear for work .....I am often up to my elbows in paint, glue, glitter or playdough so I never wear my 'proper' watch for work !

I do not need a watch, so I will not spend even a dollar on it. i just my cellphone which can tell the time accurately. For me, when something works fine, there is no need for duplicate device.

My mother once bought a very, very unexpensive watch to have for a few days while her watch was being repaired. She gave it to me some time ago and I still have it, good as new, It is not beautiful but has big numbers (I like that) and I can take it to places where I don´t want to take my good watch.

If there are good reviews, I would! I'm not much of a watch person, but I just bought an Apple iWatch a few weeks ago.. I wore it for a few days only and it hasn't been on my wrist since. Waste of money, because I don't find myself looking for the time as often as I hoped.

Erm, not sure! it might go bust in like couple of days? Then you need to buy another one. Sometimes the cheapest thing is the most expensive one.

I would buy it , you have to be careful though. You many need to get a battery for the watch.
