Do you allow your kids to eat JUNK FOODS?

My daughter, she loves French fries, doughnuts, fried chicken and candy. So, does her cousins who lives with us. And thats the thing me and her father always argued about. And moments like this I feel like parental failure. Why don’t my kids crave strawberries and select salad from the restaurant? They also eat healthy foods, they eat what I serve on the table but they just cant avoid junk foods. Because they know that junk food tastes better. I mean, don’t we all know that? So don’t feel too bad when your kids want ice cream for dessert – they wouldn’t be normal kids if they didn’t! So, do you let your kids eat junks foods or you battle it out with them day after day and offer healthy foods?

I let them have those in moderation. My eldest son doesn't like chocolate and other sons don't like sodas. They develop their own preferences as they get older, and I never really had to force them to not eat/drink anything when they were younger.

As long as there not having it every day I wouldn't worry too much, and as long as they are having a good variety of food and vegetables and fruits as well. Vinnie has had fast food like Mcdonalds twice but he has far too many deserts he pretty much has pudding after every meal x

Yeah, not junk foods all the time. I always remind my daughter that junk foods and candy is not healthy so sometimes when someone is giving her candy she said no but she is only two so sometimes she forgot. Whats good to her is she drinks lots of water afterwards.

@shellyjaneo She always had her reward especially after pedia or dental check. And when she's been good while I am away. Kids needs a treat so they will stay good.

@hlfbldmom yeah a 2 year old will probably always so yes to naughty things but as long as she is having a mixture of foods I wouldn't feel bad, you have to give them treats sometimes. Especially if they are being good x

Well, my husband and I are quite strict at this - we do not let the children eat junk food at all, especially candies. Some of my friends have been commenting we are too strict and the children are too pitiful. This is the rule we have stated to the children since they are young, and they have never eat those before, so even when other children are eating, they are fine. We slowly allow the children to take in more "not so healthy food" as they grow older, but not candies or sodas yet.

@hlfbldmom That's why I have to admit we are very strict at this area.... Many friends told me it's fine if the children take the junk food moderately. If you think it's fine, just do not feel guilty about it. You are still a very good mother!

Wow!. Sodas I only allow occasionally since sometimes in the party candies is something that I want to elliminate for their not-so-healthy foods.

I'll admit that my kids do enjoy their junk foods, like other kids do. Sometimes I do allow them to eat it a little too much, I'll admit, but they will eat fruits. They love eating bananas, apples, grapes, ... They will eat yogurt as well. We do try to balance things out, and try to make sure we have some fruits for them in the house.

My son do not like junks because I have trained him since he was a child to eat healthy foods. If he will be served potato chips and chunks of fruits, he will choose the latter automatically.

They're growing, they burn it off, I wouldn't worry too much so long as it's not every day.

Seems that we cannot avoid them not to eat such foods.

At first I would like to say that your daughter is so adorable. You shall take more photos for her as she really grows so fast I don't mind my son eats the junk food, in fact I am the one who often share it with him. I believe that the balanced diet is the best. You shall eat everything, but just pay attention not to eat only one food a lot. Avoiding junk food will not ensure that I will have perfect health. Life is short and sometimes we shall treat ourselves better, such as eating something we like.

Actually if you never feed your children junk food they will not like the taste better. If they get strawberries they will like them. So you are in control of that.

junk food is not good as you use in routine,so its vegetables and fruits are better though in month 2 time eat junk food is ok because we not like same food daily so for change we have to eat junk food.for child in first 10 years its good if they avoid it and eat as much as vegetable and fruit.in that age its required because it effect on eyes brightness some nutrition required for heath and etc.if they eat junk food more then may be chance for spectacles to wear, become fat ,sometimes hair problem because of nutrition not get proper.
