Day 11 – Warfare 1 Chronicles 18 When we think about war we think about our military forces and the military strength we have against our enemies. We also think about survival and winning against our enemies. David went to war against the nations surrounding him as soon as he took the throne of Israel. He conquered the Philistines, Moabites, and the Syrians. He also took the brass, silver, and gold from his enemies needed for building the temple of the Lord that his son would build. War doesn’t just happen on the battlefield. War happens anytime our enemies come against us, trying to subdue us and force us to submit to their power and authority. As Christians our enemy is Satan. His purpose is to kill, steal, and destroy us and those belonging to us. When we fight with the sword of the Word of God we will win every war. Our weapons of warfare are the Word of God and prayer. With them we can put our enemy to flight. Joshua 23:10 One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fights for you, as he hath promised you. (KJV) 2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. (KJV) When we battle Satan we need to be prepared for battle, and there is only one way we can do that. Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; (KJV) David went to war against his enemies and won every battle because the Lord went ahead of him and preserved him. God will do the same for us when we go prepared into the battle. Our warfare might be different, but we are still fighting a fierce enemy who wants to destroy everything we hold dear – our lives and the lives of our loved ones. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for going ahead of me into battle, and for giving me the armor to fight my enemy, Satan. Help me pull down every stronghold Satan would bring against me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 29 November 2015 by Valerie Jean Routhieaux All scripture is King James Version, edited by me into common English. Image courtesy of Pixabay

As one entered into a relationship with Christ the battle begins. But thank God because I have Christ that will be with me all the time.

There will always be enemies for us to fight. Sad as it may be.
