It is that time of year. We are busy shopping, cooking, buying gifts and such. We may mention on Facebook that we found a great sale or that perfect toy that everyone is looking for. Then they zero in on you. The holiday borrower. In one single week-end three different people asked me to loan them money. The first one is family, and I refused because I don't want to enable him on his journey to the dark side. Two were strangers...well, not really strangers, Facebook friends. I have never met them. I have spoken to them. I have commented and laughed at their jokes. I have tried to be supportive when they are in pain. That is my downfall. (I refused them) But one of them really shocks me. She asked for money to buy gas to go to visit her mother's grave. Her mother died unexpectedly about six months ago. Her father put her out because he is grieving and blames this 30 yr old mother of 2 for adding stress to her mothers life. She "allowed" her ex to take the children until she gets a job and a place to live and moved in with a girlfriend. So far very sad...but the very next day after she asked me for money - she posts pictures of herself on hands and knees showing two huge tattoos on the back of her upper thighs. The left leg reads "SHOW" The right reads "Time" and they are at least six inch letters plus a design. I am not commenting on the tatts..thats her business...but when you can't tuck your babies in at night...or put gas in your own car..of pay rent...how do you afford tattoos? They had to be more than $200. I don't understand.

My husband used to give close friends and family free tattoos when he did them, maybe it was that situation? I don't know but either way it does look bad after she asked to borrow money. When I ask to borrow anything it is because I truly cannot afford whatever it is or anything for that matter.

I'm not impressed by people who have tattoos. Being lied to in order to get a tattoo is not wrong.

My mother's friend borrowed money from me last year August 2014 and until now she has not paid me the whole amount. She borrowed 1760 USD. @Magnolia It is just so irritating because she does not seem impoverish.

There are so many ways they could earn a little money; no need for begging. And, how are you doing?
