"who's been sitting in my seat?" grumbled the bear {me}

The working week {which for me is Monday to Thursday} is very particular with regards the morning routine I like to indulge in. The cats get fed whilst my oat bran porridge is waving in the micro, and I always eat my breakfast whilst sitting on the stairs. The cats know my routine inside out and always beat me to the bathroom when I get out of bed. Part of this routine includes getting the bus. Now, I have no idea if this is an autistic trait, an OCD trait or simply my introvertedness coming to the fore, but I always sit on the same seat. Usually there is no issue with this as the bus starts its route in my little town, but occasionally some idiot comes along and completely wrecks my day. They sit in my seat. I go through a range of emotions when this happens. Irrational panic becomes irrational anger, which then becomes irrational worry, before becoming irrational anger again. "I'm not near the bell!" "How will I squeeze through all the commuters?!" "Why did she sit in my seat, the crazy cow?!" This morning a young lady was sitting in my seat. Halfway along the route she decided she was going to sit further down the bus after all. Thanks, bus seat stealer! Tomorrow my routine will have to be all skew-whiffy; I shall be leaving five minutes earlier so she can't steal my seat again. Humpf.

@arthurchappell They are so expensive in Manchester. If I wanted to go into Manchester City Centre with my wife and her sister and her husband we can get a taxi cheaper. And the taxi picks us up at the door and drops us off at the door!!

I'm also a creature of habit regarding bus seats. I'm in the habit of never setting foot on a bus!!!

Perhaps someone should run a bus with reserved seats (just as certain pews in churches used to be reserved for the local gentry). I don't travel on the bus regularly but there are certain seats I prefer (the slightly raised ones toward the back so that I can see over the heads of the passengers in front) and I have to admit to a certain bearishness when these seats aren't available.

Ooh, yes. Reserved seats would be perfect. I have noticed that the other regular passengers who get on at the same time as me tend to have their favourite seats too. It only takes one non-regular passenger to completely mess things up!

I can relate to this. Things that may not matter to most others can really be something that affect me a lot. I may be a tad OCD, or may even be more than just a tad...

It is really irrational. The poor girl had no idea she'd done wrong by me! I'm glad it's not just me. :)

I'm glad you were able to get your seat back. It sounds as if it would've been pretty ugly if that didn't happen.

I didn't claim it back after she'd chosen to move to another seat. I thought that might look odd to the other passengers!

I think most people tend to take the same spot all the time. I noticed that at meetings at work
