Day 13 – Your Worth 1 Chronicles 20:1-3 What is your net worth? Do you know? Many people today have investments which increases their net worth. Your net worth is found in your assets. When David went to war he took the spoils as his due. One of the things he took from the king of Ammon was his crown which he put on his head. The crown was encrusted with precious stones and weighed a talent of gold. It wasn’t that the crown was heavy, but the weight was the value of the crown, which when the commentaries were written by Matthew Henry, Adam Clark, Jamieson-Fausset-Brown, and John Wesley was found to be 5,475 pounds. I don’t know what that amounts to today, but it was worth a lot of money, and David wore it on his head. People were also considered assets. David brought the people out of the cities he conquered and put them under hard labor. One day there will be another King with crowns on His head, the crowns of all those who accepted Him as Savior and Lord. Jesus will ride forth into battle against Antichrist. Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. (KJV) We are God’s special jewels because we accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. Malachi 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spoke often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. 17 And they shall be mine, says the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spares his own son that serves him. 18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serves God and him that serves him not. Just as the crown David put on his head had much value not only in the gold but in the precious stones on the crown, so too the crowns Jesus wears in that day is precious because it is us that believe in Him. We are His precious jewels. What are you worth? In the eyes of Jesus you are a priceless jewel. Let’s pray: Father, thank you that I am a precious jewel in Your sight, and a jewel in Jesus’ crown. Help me serve You all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 1 December 2015 by Valerie Jean Routhieaux All scripture is King James Version, edited by me into common English.
