I bought a new computer yesterday

I've heard that the prices of computers went down over the years and since mine is so badly outdated and acting up I knew it was time to get another one. I took advantage of it being cyber Monday yesterday and bought one on the HP website. I compared prices of similar computers on walmarts website, best buys website and Hewlett Packard and at HP I spent about $100 less. My last computer which I am using now I bought for $439 in 2006. It has a AMD athlon processor, DVD burner, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB Hard drive and ran on Windows XP. At the time I bought that off HP it was a really great updated computer. This computer I just bought for $466. It has a Intel i3 processor, DVD burner, 8 GB RAM, 1TB Hard drive and runs off Windows 10. So the prices have not gone down as this is the modern basically of what I purchased in 2006. I hope this lasts me at least as long as this old computer I have now. I will be busy this week uploading all the pictures from my computer to facebook and printing them and saving them to the external hard drive I have. My new computer should arrive around December 8th. I want everything done on my computer by then. With this old Avitron montior from 2000 I am not sure if that will even work with the new computer tower I bought. Hopefully it will so I don't have to go out and spend over $100 for a new flat screen monitor.

There is a significant difference between an AMD processor and the Intell i3, which you should really notice once you have received it. Windows XP does utilise far less resources than Windows 10, but it should still operate faster. I cannot see the monitor presenting any real problem, but you may have some compatibility issues with older programs that you may have installed.

@shaggin The printer and scanner should be USB, so I cannot see a problem in that case. As for the monitor, most computers should support VGA, DVI or HDMI.

I am thinking that the monitor plug in on the back of newer monitors is different then this 15 year old one. That is the only thing I am really worried about. I hope that my printer and scanner will still work as well as they are pretty old as well lol. Everything I have is old.

Thank you I hope that it is as awesome as I am hoping. I deal with the one I have which is old and slow so I think this one is going to be a lot better. It took me about two hours today to edit and upload about 15 photos to facebook. This is going to be a long process to get all the photos online. The ones I put up today are from August 3. Tomorrow I will be starting the next days worth of photos I took which I think was August 5.

I was hoping to get a much better deal with I guess what I got was good enough. The prices of laptops have come down so much and now they have All in One desktops so its kind of crazy that regular old towers are still costing so much money.

I think overall they are cheaper but that's because you can get really fancy if you want to with computers. It's just a matter of getting the right computer that will do what you want it to do.

It sounds like you got your money's worth out of your old one. I hope the new one serves you as well.

well, my first laptop is DELL which costs 500$ and I have been using it for almost 5 years now. I've upgraded it to window 10 since I worked with some developers here. My another friend also get an HP deal at 350$ but he just get it at 4GB RAM

Congrats. I am sure this will last as long as you expect it. However do have some backup too. Just in case. these days electronics is often not reliable as it was in the past.
