My thoughts on gun violence

Most people in the US – who aren’t enslaved to an outdated ideology or are just a-holes – understand that there is a gun violence problem in America. Broadly speaking, there are two “solutions” often touted to this problem – “more guns” and “ban guns” – but both of them are stupid and aren’t real solutions. The “more guns” argument is stupid for several reasons, but my favorite is the fact that the politicians who support everyday Americans being able to carry guns around their workplace would have these very same everyday Americans arrested if they tried to carry guns around the politician’s workplace. They support Americans having guns all the time everywhere, they just don’t want to be around Americans with guns all the time everywhere. The “ban guns” argument is stupid because it is ultimately futile. There are these things called 3D printers that can make various objects. They are becoming more capable and less expensive and more and more people will have access to them. While they can make toys and random objects around the house, they can also make guns. Just do a search for “3D printed guns” and you’ll get plenty of results. So even if we shut down all the gun manufactures and all the gun shops in the country, criminals and everyday citizens will still be able to make guns in their basement. So what’s the real “solution” to gun violence? I say it’s to focus more on the violence aspect. Why do people think they need to kill a bunch of their coworkers, or random people in a theater, or whatever? I know, it’s a complex issue without simple answers – and thus no simple soundbites – so it’s unlikely politicians will talk about it. So maybe we should just do things without them.

How can a person make a hydrogen bomb containment in their basement using a 3D printer? I think you are on to something in this post and so is your president because this is so not normal. We need to get to the problems quickly and get together with solutions that will work for everyone concerned. sincerely, your friendly neighbor

I won't say it's impossible to make a hydrogen bomb with a 3D printer, but I will admit it's very unlikely. But in other WMD news, as genetic engineering gets easier and cheaper, there may one day be genetic engineering kits like chemistry kits. So someday there may be a lunatic making a plague in their basement. But if we can get through the terrifying parts, the future should be amazing.

@oneoveralpha We have certainly seen that it is possible to make a powerful bomb from fertilizer.

Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen.
