Woman of Substance

What qualifies for a woman to be called a woman of substance. Could cigarette smoking be one of the qualifications? A cigarette in hand does make a woman look confident. I have no knowledge about this as I do not smoke. Your views please.

I think the quote says it .That is a woman of substance in a family or society.She may or may not smoke.

Many people here do not smoke, and they cannot tolerate the sight of young ladies who smoke. It is silly and a waste of money. I think the women who are successful in their careers, and do not have bad habits are the ones to admire.

No no and again no. Smoking is absolutely nothing to do with being 'of substance'. It means a woman whose contribution to society is substantial.
