Nike does not make shoes

All of us are familiar with Nike. You probably have a pair of Nike running shoes or you are saving up to buy a pair of Nike shoes. You probably think that the business of Nike is to make shoes. That is wrong. Nike does not make shoes. Nike outsources the manufacturing of shoes to factories in the developing countries. They have a few manufacturing plants in US where they make parts, not shoes. Nike is in the business of selling shoes, but not making shoes. This just shows that you do not have to own factories or think of making new products to succeed. You just need to have a good feel of the potential market, and a marketing strategy to sell the products.
