Spirit in the Sky

All this week, I have been purposely focused on trying to be happier, and to try and uplift other people's spirits. A lot of it has to do with the upcoming holidays, but another part of it is my commitment to be a happier person in my life. I was really tired this morning on the way to work, and wasn't sure I would be able to manage a smile throughout the day. And then lo and behold, as I was flipping through the radio stations in my truck, I came across the 1969 classic song by Norman Greenbaum called "Spirit in the Sky." Listening to the song, I couldn't help but manage a smile, and soon found myself singing along. It's a very catchy and uplifting tune! By the time the song was over, I was more awake, alert, and in a much better mood. It set the tone for the rest of my day. Was there a song this morning (or any time today) that put you in a good mood, or got your feet a tapping, or just overall lifted your spirits? If so, what song was it?

Almost any piece from a Puccini opera will delight me without fail no matter what the circumstances at the time.

That sounds nice! I love opera music, but I have to be in a certain mood for it! It's actually been a while since I've last been to an opera! Now you've got me in the mood to attend one!

@Asylum I haven't been to an opera in over 10 years! I couldn't for the life of me remember what the name of the last opera was that I went to!

@moffittjc I love that song. Especially the very start of it. Just love the music to it. Makes me want to play air guitar lol I am glad that a song can make you feel better. I hope you trying to live life happier is working out for you too. I know it's not always easy especially when certain events take place to wipe away any happiness you were feeling. I respect you for being determined on trying to better yourself regardless. Whenever I am in a down sort of mood, I actually don't want to listen to music. I love music but just don't want to listen to anything. But a song that will always make me smile is Stand By You by Rachel Platten. Because my best friend from Texan sent it to me one day and was basically saying that whatever I am going through that he will be there. So that song always makes me smile.

Awww, that was so nice of your friend in Texas to send you that song! Are you still trying to save up money to visit Texas? And if so, how's it going?

@moffittjc I sure am! In fact I just got off a video call from him. Which has made me feel really good and happy. I am doing pretty well with the money. Have a little over $3000 now. But wanting to try and get more because I want enough for the ticket as well as being in a position where I am financially comfortable. So I can afford to pay for other things too.

Bluegrass is my go-to music when I need a pick-me-up. My favorite bluegrass band right now is the Gibson Brothers.
Title track from the Gibson Brothers new album "They Called It Music." Order the album at http://bit.ly/YXRI8f
