I will not delete my account in Wikinut

Even though Wikinut has announced that it will stop paying us, I will not delete my account there. Most of my articles in Wikinut are not original. These articles were published elsewhere before I republished them in Wikinut because it accepted the articles as long as we are the original writer. The payment from Wikinut is not that fantastic. In fact, it is a very low paying site. In most years since I joined Wikinut years ago, I hardly made $20 in a single year. I think the best thing about Wikinut is the professional way they manage the bad news. At least they have the decency to send an email to all users, and to allow us the opportunity to delete our account, and to download all our content.

I wasn't part of that site but the way they emailed all of its members was the right way to go about things I think.

@tallawah I admire how they handled this issue, but they rarely would communicate prior to this. I heard lot's of folks complaining that they pleaded to admin about how to close accounts or delete posts, but could never get any guidance.

This means wikinut is running into bears, a site which already pays that low is not making much and is running down. As you said Most of your articles in Wikinut were published elsewhere before you republished them in Wikinut, so your articles are safe there too.

No wonder I didn't get the email. I joined Wikinut using the email that is now not operational. Anyway, I had about 10 or so articles that I republished from other websites in Wikinut so I won't be deleting my account either. I have never managed to reach payout though. At least Wikinut behaves better than Bubblews.

The payment is very low anyway. Even though they pay once you hit 2.5 British pounds, the earning is too little per view, so it takes a long time to accumulate such a figure.

@hereandthere Perhaps they just sent to active members only. I haven't logged in to the website for quite a while now.

maybe that's one of the reasons - allowing republishing of the same content?

@tallawah The page program always seemed like a joke and became more meaningness as time passed.

There doesn't seem to be much point deleting your account there, especially since you have most of the articles elsewhere. It's good that they gave you warning.

Yes, the owners are from UK if i remember correctly. They are certainly more matured, and more responsible than the team in Bubblews.

@scheng1 it would seem hard to stoop to the level of Bubblews.

It is the first time I have read about Wikinut and also the first time to know that a certain site allow an article that was published already. Is it totally closed now? Anyway, this post was created last year so I wonder how is the Wikinut site now. It is good that they were able to announce to all their members their plan to stop giving payments. I hope all admins of earning sites know that ethics.

@scheng1 I see. I hope they will pay again. If they do, they will invite more members and gain more popularity. I think they just need to think of strategies how they can acquire more revenue from adverisements. How long have they not been paying online?

It's up to the writer now to do whatever they want with their articles I guess.

I thought they wanted original work. All the sites want something written just for them.

@akalinus I used the same user name as all the other sites that I joined.

No, Wikinut accepts duplicate content, but you must be the original writer. That is why we have to use the same user name.

@scheng1 I thought we had to choose an user name. I chose Peanut Butter. I did not use my real name, I don't think. It was years ago so I could be wrong.

I am glad I did not keep up with Wikinut. These writing sites fail faster than they find new ones.

@scheng1 They did communicate this well, but prior communication was wpefully inadequate. I will most likely delete my posts there, but keep my account there just in the event I want to communicate something. There are a few users there that have a history of lying about or smearing others.

Wikinut has many good writers even though the rate was very, very low for a long time. I think that is due to the moderators who are doing their jobs well.

@scheng1 yes the moderators did a good job there, though the assignment of stars was a joke. There were some good writers. Lot's of poor ones too.
