Santa met the Grinch on Christmas Eve
It was kindness versus greed.
Santa said, "You must be good this holiday.
You must perform a very good deed."
The Grinch just laughed and responded,
"I'll steal the cookies and eggnog tonight.
I'll do it right in front of your nose
Because it would give me pure delight."
Santa was very alarmed.
"If you do this, no present shall you ever receive.
You are an evil fellow.
This I have conceived."
The Grinch thought for a moment,
"No gifts at all for me?"
Santa pounded his chest.
"No gifts, unless you believe."
The Grinch decided to change his mind.
"Okay, I'll be good tonight
As long as you deliver me a
Whizzle bang kite,
And then all will be alright."
Santa agreed to the Grinch's request.
They shook their hands on it.
The Grinch kept his word and behaved that night.
As for Santa, he gave the Grinch
A Whizzle bang gift.
Next year may be different.
The Grinch may be mean again.
But for this year, he was as good as gold,
And had a jolly, good friend.
