My Suddendeathpoem Challenge

Santa got run over by his reindeer Drinking eggnog Christmas Eve That should delight the Grinch But not the kiddies Who’ve left him milk and cookies if you please Now you would think the story’s over No more Santa leaving presents near the tree However, Rudolph to the rescue He knew the true elixir Was found in you and me Rudolph’s tonic revived Santa No more eggnog Christmas Eve Santa’s cheery disposition Showed Grinch there was more Than gifts and Christmas trees. The Spirit of Christmas is in giving Hope and joy and brotherhood When we do unto our neighbor Filling hearts with delight There will be peace around the world This is in answer to the challenge put forth by @Jessicalynnt I don't do real well on spur of the moment poems and this one doesn't have the meter that it should all the way through, so I hope you will forgive me. It's the best I could do under the circumstances. Image courtesy of Pixabay

@Hatley Interesting. I see some good ones on the side occasionally, but some are so old, I wonder if the people are still here.

I realized I commented to a comment, but didn't comment on this itself. I love it, and I love that it was to a song!

I couldn't get it out of my head so I had to start writing it. Since my laptop was acting up I took the time to work on it during a movie I was watching to pass the time until I could turn on the computer again. And voila, there you are, your challenge poem. I'm glad you love it. The meter isn't great for the last verse though.

@just4him I have found some of the better poems get stuck in the head until they are written, and dont worry on the roughness, thats part of this, since you have limited time to write

Thanks. It took me a couple hours to write this one. Poems don't often take that long when I'm inspired to write one. This wasn't inspiration - it was perspiration

@just4him Please do not bring yourself down. Its a great humorous poem. I loved it; I wouldn't even dare to try at this challenge. By the way, the underlying lesson it conveys is pure and simple. KUDOS!

Thanks. I had that stupid song running through my head just before I started this, the thing is it kept being that first line.
