Nightlife - Is it really needed , if yes why ?

Had a glimpse in newspaper lately that keeping nightlife as a focus , govt has extended deadline for closing bars/discos by 1 AM . Is nightlife all about boozing , drinks and party? What should be add-on with the privileges of boozing in nightlife ? Does nightlife has to be encouraged in only Metro/Major cities ? What are pros and cons of nightlife ?

No nightlife for me, we have to work in morning, so we need sleep in night. Some people thinks night is for fun, they might sleep in day time wasting the living daylight
