Muscle man

I mean, the yellow sun makes him super, so why does he need those big muscles? And what does he lift to give him big muscles? Wouldn't he be just as super if he were 5'2 and skinny? I'm just trying to understand here, I've always been a Supes fan, but I had a dream about a short, ugly superman and that got me to thinking - why does he have to have all those muscles? Here is one of my favorite think pieces of Superman:

fun and a true idea of the way the laws of biology and physics would cause a super foetus and baby to kill poor Lois

I always guessed that if they could have babies, it would be best for Lois to conceive and bear the child in Kandor. Never could figure out why humans didn't have something special there like Supes has here...

Perhaps the muscles just grew as a result of yellow sunlight similar to what it does to plants
