Why are people even considering this? (New Tattoo Trend)

I was scrolling through my newsfeed on facebook this morning when I came across something that is disturbing. Apparently, atleast according to the internet, people are starting to remove a layer of skin as a tattoo. I suppose you could say more than a layer of skin really. I do not know exactly how ot describe it but it was disgusting looking.
I can imagine all sorts of infections to come from it. I also don't know how long a tattoo like that would last. It was deep enough but still not too deep where it didn't look like it wouldn't heal. I suppose the end result is a "Scar" of the pattern.

I like the idea of a normal tattoo. Even so, I haven't decided on what I really really want. I may never get one, I'd be find either way. Some people go way too far with body alteration.

Although I have seen sometimes small, beautiful, tatoos (not many), I always, even then, say to myself: you´ll be sorry.
I am old and I have seen my skin change from young to old. An older skin needs different care and looks different too.
The older we get, the more we want people to gaze away from our skin. That is for beauty reasons, but there are also health reason as skin gets thinner.
I haven´t seen what you just wrote about but laughed when I saw you write the word "imbeciles". I agree!

@ScribbledAdNauseum I cannot imagine a tattoo (even the normal one) looking beautiful on an 80 year old skin!

I was wondering if anyone might notice the tags!
Ye our skin gets thinner and more delicate as we age. I imagine a scarred tattoo would cause many problems over the years, and especially in winter months.

Eeeew, I'm glad I never came across something like that in my newsfeed. It's better to just get an actual tattoo than peeling off your skin or something. It's more painful I think as opposed to getting a tattoo. At least tattoos will be colorful.

This is nothing new, it is called skin carving. It does look good at first, but it seems more morbid when you realize that it is not tattooed - it is carved out. Some people find this form of self expression as an art and I respect their choices. I will never judge someone's character based on how they look. But I personally will not do something like this simply because I am not daring enough nor brave enough.

That is horrible and I would imagine it is even more permanent than an ink tatoo.

Well it is hardly a surprise. They are dim enough to have a tattoo in the first place even dimmer if they think they can remove it like that. Some people deserve to be stupid all their lives!
