A thousand dollars a month in dividend income is not enough for retirement

There are a few investment bloggers in Singapore who have an average of $1000 a month in dividend income.
However, that is too low for them to retire in Singapore.
Many of them are still young with young kids, and their expenses every month are more than their dividend income.
In the context of Singapore, no matter how old you are, as long as you are an adult, it is very hard to survive on $1000 a month.
This is the kind of salary that cleaners draw every month.
At least cleaners have the workfare to support them. That means government gives them a sum of money every quarterly to complement their income.
Sad to say that I do not even have an average of $1000 per month in dividend income.
I still have a long way to go, and I will have to work part time in order to have a semi-retirement.
