Too much time has gone by to renew my license

My license lapsed about a year ago. I thought, why bother, since I won't be driving anymore.
The thing is, I can't even just get an ID. here you have to have two forms of identification, and a birth certificate being one of them.
I would have to write and send $10 for that, and a bill with your name ion it or something.
It's that way for identification and license too. Now, I can't get out. I can't breathe and walk at the same rime.
I was going to get out for Christmas and New Years but I just can't do it.
So I wonder what I can do. If I have to go to a nursing home I will need a current ID.

Does the social security card not work as an ID? here I was able to use my birth certificate, my social security card, and a bill with my current address on, to get an ID. Of course now all they ask for is the old ID as reference to put in all info. I'd contact the DMV main office in Georgia and see if there is a way around this.

@sharon6345 I've only ever needed to show proof of address and forms of ID once. Now they just ask for my government issued ID, whether it's expired or not.

I have a social security card, but no birth certificate. My daughter just went through the mess. She had to send $10 to the clerk of court in NY to get her birth certificate.

It is a "prove it is you" circle for sure. I kept my old college id just to show for a reaction. It is like 100 years old. I guess you guys don't have health cards? Its always fun having a birth certificate and any card with your picture on it but I hate when it costs money just to say, I am who I say I am.

@OreoBrownie I've been known to stare at my id picture and ask myself is this really me?

We just went through this process with my father. It took us three visits to the licence office and three trips to the post office. Finally we got lucky and someone went the extra mile to help us get proper ID. We are trying to spread the word...before you give up your drivers licence, get the legal photo ID card.
