If you were thinking that middle America was all flat farmland, you would be mistaken. Some of the most beautiful scenic wonders in America are found in this area. Sure, there are a lot of farms but there are many other things to see. Here are just a few that might sound interesting to you. The mighty Mississippi River has mile after mile of gorgeous river views and vistas, especially where the Mississippi meets the Ohio River at the sounthern tip of Illinois. Have you ever seen or crossed the Mississippi River? What about the Blue Hole, an amazing artesian spring at Castalia, Ohio that produces SEVEN MILLION gallons of water every day? There are many State Parks all across middle America. One in particular that is well worth the visit is Hocking Hills, Ohio. This state park is known as "Little Yellowstone." There you will be able to see numerous waterfalls and cool gorges, steep cliffs, rock ledges and chasms as well as strangely named caves. Have you ever been there? Mammoth Cave, Kentucky boasts arched domes, curtain-like formations and an incredible, crystal-clear subterranean lake. Don't miss the Great Lakes area, with sand dunes near Michigan City where orchids grow and you can see the biggest sand dune in that area called Mount Tom. So much to see and this is just a small sampling things to see in middle America. Lots of tourists visit all the usual tourist sites but most of these areas are not included in their plans. That's certainly understandable because it's a huge country to visit even if you LIVE here. What do you think?
