or cutting another tie...
When I moved 3 1/2 years ago, I promised the ex that when I found the bowl that his cousins brought us from East Germany, that I would give it to him. Well, I found it some time ago, but he hasn't asked for it, and it usually isn't on my mind when he comes by.
Two days ago when we were decorating the Christmas tree, I found an ornament that his dad gave us in 1985, so 30 years ago. It was commemorating the last Christmas in the "home sweet home", because he was building a house. Only it wasn't. They lived there at least 5 more years, as things took longer than planned.
But anyway, I took the ornament, and put it with the bowl, and gave it to the ex when he dropped Cary off today. The ornament had his dad's writing on it, so I'm sure it will mean a lot to him.
It belongs with him, I guess. I'm such a packrat, I like to hang on to things, but I suppose this is just cutting one more tie.
