Death Pools

There is a game that many people I know play. They participate in what are commonly called "Death Pools." The object of the game is to make a list of famous people they think will die in the forthcoming year. Morbid? Maybe a little. The thing that bothers me about it is the exuberance that some people put into the game. Earlier this year I saw someone online gloating over the fact that he got a "solo," or all the points eligible, for picking a person that had just died. That bothers me. Famous people are celebrities, but they are also spouses, parents, siblings, and children. We shouldn't be rejoicing that they died, especially treating their death as a thing to celebrate because it helped someone win a stinking game. Have you ever played a "Death Pool" game?

I never heard of such a thing. It reminds me of big corporations that take out life insurance policies on employees with health risks. Walmart is one company that does this. This is so wrong.
